Nur — Help & support
Prayer times, the Qibla, the Quran and your daily dhikr, in one calm app. Answers to common questions are below; if yours is not there, write to us.
Common questions
The prayer times differ from my mosque's
Open Settings → Prayer and choose the calculation method your mosque follows (in Indonesia: Kemenag), and the Asr time (Standard or Hanafi). Make sure the location (Settings → Reading & calendar → Location) is where you are. A difference of a minute or two between methods and mosque timetables is normal.
The adhan or prayer notification does not come
Allow notifications for Nur in iOS Settings → Notifications → Nur, and switch on Time Sensitive so prayers come through a Focus. On the Prayer tab, each prayer's bell switches between adhan, a silent notification and off. With the ring/silent switch on silent, the adhan plays no sound. Notifications are planned about a week ahead and refreshed whenever you open Nur, so open it now and then.
The Qibla compass seems wrong
Hold the phone flat, away from magnets, metal and phone cases with magnets. If the accuracy is low, Nur shows a calibration guide: move the phone in a figure-8 until the accuracy shows Good. Allow Precise Location for Nur.
Can I listen to the Quran offline?
Yes. Download the whole Quran, a juz or a surah in Settings → Reading & calendar → Offline audio, or from the Aa menu in the reader. Downloads use Wi-Fi unless you allow mobile data there.
How do I join a Khataman bersama group?
Tap the invite link the organiser sent you, or open the Quran tab → Together → Join with a code. Khataman bersama needs you to sign in with Apple or Google, so the group knows who reads which juz.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works without one and stays on your phone. Signing in with Apple or Google backs up your logs, bookmarks, tasbih, khatam and hafalan, syncs them to another phone, and lets you read in Khataman bersama.
Moving to a new phone
Install Nur on the new phone and sign in with the same Apple or Google account in Settings → Account. Your synced data comes back; Sync now fetches it at once.
The Hijri date is a day off
The Hijri calendar is calculated, and local moon sighting can differ by a day. Adjust it in Settings → Reading & calendar → Hijri date adjustment.
A mosque is missing or wrong on the map
At the bottom of the Mosques list, tap Suggest a mosque, put the pin on it and add what you know. We check every suggestion before it appears for everyone.
Changing the language
Nur follows your phone's language: English, Indonesian or Arabic. To use a different one for Nur only: iOS Settings → Nur → Language.
Deleting your account
Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account and everything stored with it on our server. Data on your phone stays until you delete the app.
Testing a beta with TestFlight?
Take a screenshot in Nur and tap Share Beta Feedback, or open the TestFlight app → Nur → Send Beta Feedback. Your message reaches us with the build number and device.
